Junior Docents by definition are volunteers who educate, just like their adult counterparts, but are of high school age.  Training for the Junior Docent program is offered each summer.  The classes are intensive and include taxonomy, zoonotic diseases, and aspects of animal health including cleaning, diets, and handling and presentation techniques.  After completing the training,  Junior Docents are ready to help with education services such as birthday parties, zoomobiles, special events, and projects at the zoo.  They can also use the Docent building, located in the Children's Zoo, to present educational artifacts to the public.  Docents, both juniors and adults, meet bi-monthly for planning and keeping up with zoo news and events.

Summer 2008 session will be held from August 4th-8th. Students must be at least 14 years old. Cost is $100 per session.

A negative Tuberculosis (Mantou) test is required.

Space is limited! Only 10 students per session!
