PROGRAMS

Education is at the heart of our mission at the Utica Zoo. Our education department has been presenting experiential programs for learners of all ages since 1965. Using live animals, bio-facts, and instruction, Utica Zoo education staff and trained docents offer a variety of programs from formal classroom presentations to drop in animal meet and greets. All programs are designed to raise awareness about conservation issues through the exploration of habitats, animal natural history and behavior, and plant and animal diversity.

The Utica Zoo’s education department is fully chartered by the New York State Department of Education and all of our programs are designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards and NYS P-12 Learning Standards.
