Homeschool Programs
Make their classroom the outdoors! Join us for an immersive lesson at the Zoo surrounded by nature and wildlife with one of our Homeschool programs. These classes also take place at our Conservation Education Center, Beaversprite. See below for upcoming programs and to register your class today!
Summary of Program:
Back for fall of 2026! The Utica Zoo Home School Program is a STEM-based program that utilizes age-appropriate activities, on ground tours, and presentations to teach attending children about a range of ecology-related topics. Our homeschool class may be used to fulfill a science credit, depending on specific grade level or requirements and will include take home worksheets as well as a list of resources for further learning!
The Utica Zoo’s education department is fully chartered by the New York State Department of Education and all of our programs are designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards and NYS P-12 Learning Standards.
These lessons will be geared towards students from 6 to 12 years old, but all ages can participate. Classes begin at 11:00am and end at approximately 12:30pm. Classes are capped at 20 participants to maximize experience so don’t wait to register!
The cost is regular zoo admission plus $10.00 per student per class. Participants are required to preregister and can do so using the button below. Students can receive a $2 discount per participant when registering multiple children for the same class and/or registering for multiple classes.
Utica Zoo members receive free admission and are only required to pay the $10.00 class fee. If you are planning on signing up for multiple classes, save and become a Utica Zoo member today and receive free admission all year long!
